Phyllis Stuart

Phyllis StuartPhyllis Stuart works as an entertainment industry triple threat serving three masters being as an actor, producer and writer in theater, film and television.

While a newly graduated, Tisch School of the Arts actress, Stuart immediately began producing plays. Her first foray both on and behind the boards was at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where she brought a troupe of actors to Scotland to find 1000 other producers with plays clamouring for an audience. She returned to the states and moved to Los Angeles where an television acting job found her. Stuart cried on cue for DAYS OF OUR LIVES for a short while but knew that crying was not going to fulfill her life. She left that show and though she knew nothing about producing television she did not let that small fact stop her. So she pitched, sold, and Executive Produced an ABC Primetime Special (the world's final network clip show), 50 YEARS OF FUNNY FEMALES with hosts John Ritter, Annie Potts, Debbie Allen and Paula Poundstone. Discovering that she had indeed experienced beginner's luck, Stuart continued to perform, act and produce in theater, film and television.

Stuart next produced her one-woman comic and poignant show A RAGING VOLCANO GODDESS which was sponsored by Sears and which raised money for Gilda's Club (founded by Gene Wilder in memory of his dearly departed wife, Gilda Radner).

Next Stuart co-starred in and produced two television pilots: I SPA with Laraine Newman (Saturday Night Live) and GET INTO MY SHORTS with Jason Alexander (Seinfeld).

Stuart continues to write and produce; and her most recent films being two feature length documentaries: BECOMING BERT STERN, about the wild genius fashion photographer, Bert Stern and I THINK I CANNES about her wild adventures in the frenetic world of the Cannes Film Festival.

Near and dear to her heart, Stuart has passionately served the community as Women's Image Network's founder and volunteer executive director since its 1993 inception. Stuart started this non-profit company because she believes that if WIN applauds media that depicts dimensional and power female media images, WIN will advance positive public opinion about the value of women and girls.

To level the playing field and advance WIN's mission, Stuart produces The WIN Awards, now in its twelfth year, to encourage entertainment industry professionals who Foster A World Where Everyone WINs. This vital and grassroots effort directly impacts film, television and advertising artists. who bear the responsibility diminishing stereotypes by creating effective media.

This year, (2009) Stuart just wrapped her pet project: JUNGLE RESCUE a new series to save captive, exotic and wild animals. Stuart ch-hosts, directs and produces, along with her Emmy winning, co-host Keith David.

Once the WIN Awards 2010 wraps Stuart begins to beat the bushes for funding for her narrative feature film directorial debut PIECES OF PENNEY a very funny tragedy.
